On May 4th in Copenhagen, took place the interview of Christian LOYAU, Legal & Governance at ETSI. This interview has addressed the importance of patents in the overall innovation process and how companies can take advantage in granting licenses of Standards Essential Patents and also take benefits of the FRAND (Fair Reasonable and None Discriminatory) model. The ETSI IPR policy approach, the challenges and how to overcome them has been discussed. The importance of being aware of existing patents and to understand the rules has been emphasized to take the full advantage of Standards Essential Patents.
